Rocky Horror Picture Show

image Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of my favourite all time movies. This morning I learned that they are re-making this cult classic.  I certainly believe that they cannot improve upon the original but they will introduce a whole new generation to an interesting cast of characters.  So the honey and I were debating about who should play Frankenfurter....He picked Ewan McGregor and I chose Johnny Depp...weigh and and let me know who you think would be best, and if you have any suggestions for the other roles throw those in as well.

Johnny Depp--but mostly because I've loved him since 21 Jump St.

I cannot imagine a remake of this movie being anything other than horibly disapointing. You cannot go home. Youth is gone forever and no slick production could make up for the loss of that thater full of people who knew when to ring a bell or scream slut at the screen.

Well it is going to be made Larry so what are your casting suggestions? Just play and have a little fun.

Oh, yes. Johnny Depp. There could be no other.

OK, I personaly canot imagine anyone doing a better job than Mr Depp as Frank-N-Furter, Jennifer Hudson as Janet, and Michael C. Hall as brad. I cannot think of a specific individual for Eddie but it should be some one who will make this version entirely different from the previous one like a rapper with a good sining voice.

We toyed around w/ this one. One friend said Hugh Jackman (not sure), and I thought about Adam Baldwin (no, not one of those Baldwins). Honestly, I think Stephen Colbert could be fun.

No, I will not explain my choices, but I think Depp is too over the top for this one.

Adam Baldwin is more of a Riff Raff than a Frank-N-Furter. I could see colbet as Brad. Jackman as Frank-N-Furter now that has possibilities.

And there is no such thing as too over the top for this one IMO.

Oh why why why?! are they remaking this? I just found out about it a few days ago and still can't believe it. (It's also how I feel about the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Keanu Reeves, yuck!)

Well, if they HAD to remake it...I suppose I'd go with Terrence Mann (who did it on Broadway) or Neil Patrick Harris (who would also make an excellent Brad).

I love the idea of Neil Patrick Harris as Brad..awesome suggestion

Neil Patrick Harris as Brad

Ding! Ding! Ding!
We Have A Winner!

I knew he was on Broadway, but I never knew he had such a great voice until Dr. Horrible.

Thinking about Neil Patric Harris for Brad reminded me of Macaulay Culkin's prerformance in Party Monster. He would be the perfect Frank-N-Furter. He does 'evil sexual deviant' like nobody's bussiness.

Frank n Furter - Hugh Laurie
Janet - Nicole Kidman
Brad - Mathew Broderick
Riff Raff - Nathan Lane
Eddie - Eddie Murphy
Magenta - Kate Winslet
Rocky - Dwyane 'The Rock' Johnson
The Criminologist - Jeremy Irons
Dr Everett Von Scott - Steve Martin

Eddie - Eddie Murphy

That is just wrong on so many levels.

After a bit more thought I am going with RuPaul for Frank-N-Furter.

Renee said...

Ru-Paul as Frankenfurter is a definite no no for me ...ooooh yuck can't see it, don't want to envision it.

I love the Duane Thompson as the Rock though.

He would make a good Riff Raff or Rocky, if he could be convinced to take a smaller part.
