Wanda Sykes: That's So Gay Is Insulting

The Advertising Council and the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network has teamed up to fight the phrase "That's so gay"?  It is time that we stop using peoples lives as pejorative descriptors. Phrases like that's so gay or that's so retarded need to go.  As a matter of simple human decency recognizing that difference need not relegate someone to second class citizenship.

Oh, Wanda Sykes, my lurve for her grows and grows. Some people do not like being told what their words actually mean, as I discovered when I not-nicely told someone to stop using "gay" pejoratively on their journal. Yikes. You'd think I'd asked them to stop breathing or something.

I wanted to tell you how much I love your blog, Renee.

I've been known to drop the G-bomb now and again without really thinking about it...

I first came across Wanda Sykes during the Enron mess... she had a bit about how she gets scared walking around in Wall Street (up in the Bronx, they might rob you for the twenty four dollars and seventeen cents you've got in your pocket, but down there, they'll steal your future or something like that)...

So funny... and this is to the point... I was almost expecting something that made use of Sykes' crazy wit, but sometime common sense is what's really called for. Give thanks for these PSAs.
