Boo Ya It’s Period Time

Well once again I am a dangerous menstruating woman.  Set the threat alert to Dethcon 5.  Who knows what I am capable of now that my hormones are raging and I have lost the ability to think rationally.  This is the meme that has been thrown at women for centuries in maintenance of patriarchy.  Despite all of the gains of feminism the inherent irrationality of womanhood is still a normalized part of our social discourse.

G. Gordon Liddy: “Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad....”

When men become subject to their biology they have the freedom to explore sexually, be assertive, and independent whereas; a woman is always submissive, nurturing, illogical and filthy.   On one hand (straight) men want to have sex with us, have us exist as live in housekeepers and breeders, and on the other these are the same attributes that somehow make us unfit in their eyes.  If we were to present this sort of twisted logic, it would be met with vicious eye rolling and a dismissive there there dear.

Have men like Liddy completely forgotten that they bleed as well?  Our monthly bleeding may happen due to different circumstances but it is all part of the human process.  To decide that our blood is filthy, or renders us inept,  not only diminishes us but themselves.  Without a woman’s womb no male would exist and therefore their behaviour and language demeans the very vessel that gave them life.

Today my clean and healthy vagina is bleeding.  It is not a dirty or filthy experience; it is simply part of my life process.   Liddy has yet to be the equal of a menstruating woman and if his mind is so small that he seeks to uplift himself by diminishing others, clearly he needs to have a chat with his inner child and set things straight.
