At Gizmodo, Jesus Diaz says: "It rotates. It has blinking lights, a disco ball, and a pole. And it's probably one of the wrongest toys you can give to any girl." He also notes that, unlike the USB pole dancer, "this one is actually for kids." Delightful!
Alright folks, this is a fail of epic proportions. There are adult women that choose stripping from a point of agency but this doll is simply meant to sexualize girls. It reinforces that all the world will see as valuable about them, is their ability to sexually entice men.
Any parent that purchases this little horror for their baby girl, really needs to give their head a shake. Do we really need to be teaching children about sexuality as performance, rather than a pleasurable experience of sharing between two consenting adults? This reaffirms the idea that women are to display their sexuality for the consumption of masculinity. It further affirms that female bodies are always available.
Funny how there was an uproar about the breast feeding doll and yet barely a peep about this monstrosity. It seems that we are more concerned about disciplining young girls into sexual performance than allowing them to explore the various natural functions of their bodies.
