Just because things are marginally better than the US doesn't mean there is no problem here!  If things even are better than the US, which I'm not entirely convinced they are.  I'm not a person of colour so I've never experienced racism first hand but I've certainly witnessed enough of it. Not all oppression is class based. He/she may not have white privilege, but he/she is NOT MARGINALIZED.  Especially if mommy and daddy have connections.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;That's EXACTLY why I don't like the term Person of Colo(u)r. I've always maintained that Canadians tend to sweep racism under the rug. the atttitude is if we ignore it, hopefully it will go away. I have consistently heard from white Canadians that there is no race problem in Canada; of course I hear differently from people of color. And like you mentioned Canadians will always try to point the finger at Americans when it comes to racism etc. But they have a lot of skeletons in their closet, hence why the school board has tried their hardest not to introduced a lot of black history classes because it would only bring up all the things they claim to not have done.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;"John A. Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister was a raving alcoholic, and a vocal racist. "&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;A fellow on Facebook, I believe he was East Indian had the nerve to tell me that I should be thankful for my forefathers referring to the British and French who stole this land from the Natives.  I laughed at him, and responded why would I be thankful for someone or a group of people who had no respect for my ancestors and who were also heavily involved in the slave trade.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Canada also had a white immigration policy.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Spring 1734: Angélique Tortured and Hanged&lt;BR/&gt;Marie-Joseph Angélique allegedly set fire to her master's house and destroyed nearly 50 homes. She was tortured and hanged as an object lesson for all Blacks.
