Even as someone who shaves her vajayjay bald, the idea that there's anything wrong with a hairy coochie makes me very uncomfortable. If a dude would get upset that I'm hairy or bald or have my pubes dyed rainbow and waxed in the shape of a clover, he isn't the type of guy that gets to see it anyway. And getting your kids waxed? EW. That's a very personal choice there. If that caught on, I think all it would do is create a market for vagina toupees fifteen years down the road.

Oh yeah! I strongly agree with you. What will they find to "improve" about us next? I was shocked all to heck to recently read about vagina COSMETIC surgery. What? Apparently there is a standard that many women want to conform to. It rung my bell so hard that I posted about it on my humor blog. Geez, bird poop facials and vajayjay lifts. Yes! I am so tired of the obsession with hair and the need to get rid of it. I've been involved in some interesting discussions about when shaving/waxing became something that the patriarchy and beauty establishment sought to lord over our heads.

I still hear jokes about "hairy French women" and I think...I would much rather be in a culture where men (and women) appreciate women's natural beauty, i.e. hair, without having to resort to telling us we're dirty or not pleasing enough to our partners because we don't shave or wax.

Amongst the things I loved about living in Japan, was that most women keep their vagina's, how should I say it...natural?, and don't shave and men and women both were pleased. It was liberating to know that if I engaged in sex with a man that he most likely wouldn't have an issue with the hair on my vagina, because hair is considered erotic (and one reason it isn't drawn in pornographic comics...it's too erotic.) Different culture's attitudes towards body hair is a fascinating topic once you learn more.

Yes yes yes! Words cannot express how offended and outraged I am by the idea that my vagina in its natural state is something gross that needs to be waxed into submission. If any man has a problem with my vagina the way it is, he is free not to touch it or put his penis in it. (And honestly, I've had no trouble finding men who didn't have a problem with it, including my current).

Oh GROSS. That is so fucking telling. Not: "We haven't forgotten about you, what do you do to maintain your pubic hair?" but "What do you expect your partner to do?" Bleh.
